African Sun Energy is proud to announce the return of FemEng to Botswana this June, marking the programme’s fourth visit to the country. Scheduled to take place from the 2nd to the 24th of June, this year’s initiative once again promises to ignite passion, curiosity, and ambition among young women pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
FemEng has become a cornerstone programme in advancing female participation in engineering across Botswana. Through mentorship, hands-on learning, and exposure to real-world engineering challenges, the initiative continues to break barriers and inspire young women to envision themselves as future leaders in technical fields.
Each FemEng visit to Botswana has been proudly coordinated by Eunice Ntobedzi Hanna, one of African Sun Energy’s Directors. Her leadership and dedication have been instrumental in ensuring the programme’s success and growing impact over the years.
A graduate of the University of Glasgow and a distinguished UK Chevening Scholar, Eunice brings both an international perspective and a deep local commitment to her work. Her recognition as a 2019 World Changing Alumni by the University of Glasgow highlights her ongoing contributions to education, mentorship, and the empowerment of women in STEM fields.
“At African Sun Energy, we believe that empowering young women in engineering is not just about education—it’s about shaping a more inclusive and innovative future,” said Eunice. “We are excited to welcome FemEng back to Botswana and continue building pathways for young women to thrive in STEM careers.”
This year’s programme will feature interactive workshops, mentorship sessions, and collaborative projects designed to equip participants with both technical skills and the confidence to pursue engineering pathways. By connecting students with industry professionals and role models, FemEng continues to create meaningful opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom.
As African Sun Energy continues to champion sustainability and innovation, initiatives like FemEng align closely with the company’s mission to drive impactful change—not only through renewable energy solutions but also by investing in people and communities.
The return of FemEng to Botswana is more than just an event; it is a celebration of progress, partnership, and the limitless potential of young women ready to shape the future.
