African Sun Energy was proud to participate in the launch of the Scalar Botswana Innovation Program (SBIP), an initiative powered by Botswana Innovation Fund aimed at accelerating innovation and supporting scalable technology solutions in Botswana.
The launch event took place at Hotel 430 and brought together government leaders, innovators, investors, and industry experts to explore how emerging technologies, particularly in renewable energy and climate-tech, can drive Botswana’s economic growth.
The event was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Communications and Innovation, Shaun Ntlhaile, who delivered the keynote address on “Climate & Digital Innovation: Botswana’s Next Growth Frontier.” The address highlighted the critical role innovation and sustainable technologies will play in shaping Botswana’s future economy.
Advancing Renewable Energy Innovation
During the program, a high-level panel discussion titled “Renewable Energy & Climate-Tech as an Economic Opportunity: Enabling Scalable, Bankable Energy Innovation in Botswana” explored how the country can unlock investment, innovation, and entrepreneurship in the clean energy sector. Representing African Sun Energy, the company’s Director, Robert Hanna, joined fellow industry leaders to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing renewable energy development in Botswana. The panel examined topics such as:
- Scaling solar and clean energy technologies
- Building bankable renewable energy projects
- Strengthening the local climate-tech ecosystem
- Creating pathways for innovation-driven economic growth
Robert Hanna emphasized the importance of collaboration between government, financiers, innovators, and private-sector energy developers to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy solutions across the country.
